To celebrate motherhood and appreciate mothers Mother’s day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May.

  • Memorial Day

It comes the last Monday of May. It is known as Decoration Day and commemorates all men and women who died in military service for the USA. People also visit cemeteries and memorials on this day.

To honor Fathers, celebrate fatherhood, parental bonds and influence of a father in the society. In the USA it is celebrated on the third Sunday of June. It is celebrated in various parts of the world.

4th July 1776 represents the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the USA. It is a federal holiday in the country. This day is associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, fairs, games, political speeches etc.

  • Labor Day

Labor Day is a public holiday and celebrated on the first Monday of September. It is the unofficial end of summer and welcome autumn with its chillier and darker days. It is the day of rest or the last chance to go on a trip before summer ends.

  • Columbus Day

It is a public holiday but not a day off in some states. Some government offices are closed due to Columbus Day. This day comes in second Monday in October which is one of the most inconsistently celebrated holidays in the USA.

  • Halloween

This day is celebrated on October 31st on this day children and adults slip into the night as ghouls and goblins, princesses and pirates.  Many people celebrate this day by dressing in costumes and telling tales of witches and ghosts.

  • Veterans Day

It is a federal holiday in the USA in honor of military veterans. It is marked by parades and church services in different places. Officially this day falls on November 11th, in case it falls on weekdays many communities hold the celebration close to the weekend.

  • Thanksgiving Day

This day comes on Fourth Thursday of November. It is celebrated in honor of the creation of the new United States Constitution. Later it became a yearly tradition in many communities.

This is not an official holiday so people have to work. It is a partial day or full day off in some states. Many offices hold Christmas parties and celebrations on this day.

People decorate their houses with lights, statues of Santa Claus, Snowmen and Reindeer. Towns and cities are decorated with lights to Christmas
