US retail giant Target has been looking at the papers like the rest of us and will for sure announce the Target Holiday Hours this week. As we all know Walmart announced this week that they will kick off the Walmart Holiday Hours at 10:00pm Thanksgiving day in attempt to get a jump on its competitors.
Target who is number two in the retail market in the US is sure to follow suit. Target was founded in 1902 by George Dayton. The retail giant now has a more than 1700 locations across the United States and will soon have more than 150 stores in Canada after acquiring Canada’s Zellers from the Hudson Bay Company (North American’s oldest retailer)
Targets 2010 revenue was a staggering 67 billion dollars which when all was said and done turned into a net profit of just under 3 billion dollars. With an aggressive approach to the Target Holiday Hours in 2011, the US retailer his hoping to have a very Merry Christmas by showing their investors an even healthier bottom line.
Target employs more than 370,000 employees and like most good business, now run a successful website at Target.com. One of the great things about Target is that they are recognized as one of the most philanthropic companies in the United States. There is nothing like seeing large corporation give back to the Citizens that have made them what they are today and Target leads the way as the company that gives the most cash on a percentage of revenue (2.1%)
With Target Holiday Hours announcement pending we can be sure that this Holiday season will be a competitive one amongst retailers like Walmart, Costco, Best Buy and Kmart to name a few. Target has always made their Holiday Season advertising their focus and has gone all out by finding such stars as Amy Grant, Charlotte Church, LeAnn Rimes and of course who can forget good Ole Bugs Bunny.
